My brother helping out with parking this past Sunday.
To continue the theme of building some type of schedule for my site, I’m going to try something new: every Friday, I’ll do a recap of a variety of things: from that week’s posts, to events and moments in my life that I want to share.
Discussion list for this week:
I finally launched my shop page. I didn’t want to sell shirts or anything else again until I could make it a permanent part of the site. Thanks to Treespring, and many emails back and forth with them, I was able to use their service as a 24/7 shop for the site. Campaigns are for 21 days, and after those 21 days, the order is processed, and then the campaign automatically starts over. That’s exciting because I don’t have to do anything else: the shop page sells the merchandise, makes the merchandise, and sends me the money afterwards, without me lifting another finger.
Something that I want to be transparent about is my ways of making money from my website. This isn’t something that is an afterthought. There’s three ways that I make money here: memberships, donations, and now the shop. I’m aiming for this site to be my full-time job, so it’s important that you understand my intentions, and understand that I’ll always keep this unobtrusive and mostly hidden from you. I don’t want you, the reader and listener, to have to think about this. Instead, it’s only there for you if you need it.
Last week, I announced that I’ll start sending my Friday Recaps to everyone that signed up for my newsletter. The thought of doing this was great, but the execution and end-result wasn’t. It made me uncomfortable. The process of turning the post into an email was a grind, and then knowing that I sent an email to hundreds of people about a recap they had no idea of, bothered me. I felt bad all day after sending that newsletter out, so I doubt that I’ll be doing that again. I’ll use the newsletter for only big announcements for now, as I’ve always done.
Five weeks later, we’re still going strong. There was a festival during the small group, and we also went watch a friend perform. I can’t thank these people enough for joining me every week. I’ve gained so many new relationships.
I’ve been taking notes during our services for over a year now. It’s my way to retain everything being discussed. I’ve just never made them public, until now. I hope these notes are useful to you.
I don’t trust my next president.
This week’s guest post was my most popular one yet. Chelsea wrote about trying to conceive. I didn’t expect it to be this popular, but I also no nothing about this topic. I’m so thankful to have this story a part of the guest post series.
Blue just released a new microphone for iPad, iPhone, and Mac. Don’t be surprised if you hear me using it soon. I wrote a lot of words about the new iPhone and why the slow iterations are important. Elon Musk plans to colonize mars. Luke Cage is out! There’s this new dock I want for the Watch and iPhone. The Weeknd is on fire lately, releasing two new songs. Childish Gambino is more than a rapper, and I can relate to him being multifaceted.
