It wasn’t about the story, I think. It was about the experience. People will pay a set amount for a product. They will pay another amount for an experience. I think what people want isn’t things. I think what people want is to feel things.
This has motivated me to finish one of my stories earlier than I had originally planned. Susannah’s short story, The Tumor, is 1,564 words. The story I’ve written (which could be read early on the members page) is 1,943. I used to think that wasn’t enough, but I also knew that I told the whole story and I had no clue how I’d find more words to complete this. Now I know that instead of it being a novella, it could simply be a short story. And that’s ok.
