Writing with a pencil

It’s been 10 years, if not more, since I’ve considered or used a pencil intentionally as my preferred writing utensil. The other day, I pulled the wrapper off a new notebook, and I went to grab an ink pen, and that’s when I saw an unsharpened pencil from Field Notes. I didn’t even have a pencil sharpener, so I went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and eventually made the pencil usable. I haven’t looked back since. Maybe I’ve been missing out on freedom. This pencil is allowing me to write without the fear of messing up. Knowing that no matter what I put on the page could be edited after, gets me out of my own way to brainstorm.

I’m Nash. I create things.
