Writing for this blog happens in three stages, and Ulysses makes it easy to separate them thanks to its sheets. Each sheet lives inside Laboratory, and the three stages are simply filters for those sheets:
Stage 1 starts with a Material sheet, an easy way to identify when it’s only an idea, a title, or a link. This allows me to throw anything into Ulysses to see what sticks.
Stage 2 is when the idea starts to take shape. A paragraph begins to form, and often it never leaves this stage. It’s built here and sent off to the world.
Stage 3 is when a sheet grows into a bigger idea with more weight than a regular sheet. I have several sheets in Stage 3 slowly being shaped into a final product. Stage 3 is simply when a sheet is favorited.
